Easy bearing handling with Simatool BHT

Handling and mounting large bearings is a difficult and time-consuming task. Especially if we are talking about a bearing that has already been heated, it can be dangerous. Simatec offers, in addition to induction bearing heaters and the necessary tools for mounting and dismounting, the Simatool BHT (bearing handling tool), which improves the bearing mounting process.

The Simatool BHT is designed for the safe lifting and transport of bearings. The tool consists of two handles, two anti-twist arms and steel straps that surround the bearing on the outer ring. By evenly tightening the handles of the two support arms, the steel straps can be adjusted to the outer ring diameter of the bearing. The two anti-torsion bars prevent the inner ring from swinging out, e.g. in the case of self-adjusting ball bearings. The two opposite handles with two carrying straps allow easy handling of the lifting block.

The benefits of using BHT:

  • reduce the risk of accidents and bearing damage
  • bearings can be mounted on the shaft in both horizontal and vertical positions
  • the bore remains free during movement, allowing the bearing to be easily pushed onto the shaft
  • more precise positioning
  • simple, quick and safe bearing mounting
  • TÜV SÜD certification
  • can be used for inner ring temperatures up to 160°C

Heating is one of the best methods for safe bearing mounting. Simatool’s induction bearing heaters efficiently heat rolling bearings and other annular metal parts up to 300 kg workpiece weight. They enable fast and clean assembly and replace traditional heating methods such as hot plates, hot oil baths, open flames and ovens.

Induction heaters only heat the inner ring, yet can still cause problems when handling the bearing afterwards. The Simatool BHT can be used for inner ring temperatures up to 160°C. It can therefore be safely placed on the bearing before heating, and then removed and placed on the shaft.
